Spring is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to enjoy the outdoors in our garden or on the balcony. You might want to bring out your terrace furniture, but if the paint is peeling or the wood looks weathered, it can dampen the holiday mood.
Here, we’ll share a simple and quick way to transform an old chair into something special. The possibilities are endless.
Imagine relaxing in the fresh air, surrounded by a romantic ambiance that evokes memories of the beach. You can easily bring this dreamy atmosphere to a plain wooden chair by giving it a weathered beach basket appearance. This vintage, weathered look is currently in style and can beautifully complement a modern setting. Each crack and scratch tells a unique story, and by doing it yourself, you can achieve this aesthetic without the expense of authentic antiques.
Here’s how to achieve this style:
If there’s still some paint on the chair, thoroughly sand it and wipe off the dust with a cloth. Prime the chair with primer paint with a tint of grey and allow it to dry completely. Then, create the weathered look using a chalk paint color. Carefully apply the paint to the wood with a cloth, creating an irregular pattern. Let it dry, and you’ll have your very own self-made holiday chair to enjoy.
Painting the colours of the chair in a colourful stripe looks completely different.
It looks fresh and the graphic element is a real eye-catcher. The vertical slats on the chair are perfect for the striped look. Choose your favourite colours, for example, white and grey are a perfect aesthetic.
Prime the chair in white paint and let it dry throughly. Then, simply tape or cover all places that should not be painted with the other colour. Spray the rest of the slats with the second colour. If you want, you can paint the armrests and the chair legs yet another colour. When everything is thoroughly dried, remove the masking tape. Using a colourful stripe creates a lively contrast and an exceptional design. It’s an easy way to make a simple chair into a real eye-catcher.
