Its the first time using a paint sprayer - where do I start?
Before starting, please make sure you carefully read the manual that came with your sprayer to ensure it is setup correctly, and everything is tight and attached properly.
You can have a practice spray on some scrap cardboard to get a feel for it, and you can just tune in the right air and material flow settings before beginning on your work area.
Will I need to dilute the material?
Refer to the coating manufacturer’s recommendations for thinning the product to be sprayed.
If you are having trouble with the spray pattern, you may be able to thin down the coating (within manufacturer’s specification). Alternatively, warming the temperature of the coating slightly will help the sprayer to better atomise the paint.
Can I use solvents through my Wood & Metal, Flexio or Control Pro sprayer?
The harshest clean-up any of these units can manage is mineral turpentine, meaning anything that requires thinners as a clean-up will not be suitable for the units as they can damage them. Always consult your paint manufacturer’s safety data sheets.
Wood & Metal sprayer vs Flexio sprayers
Generally the Wood and Metal sprayers are designed for spraying low-viscosity water and oil-based paints such as lacquers, varnishes and stains and are suitable for small to medium-sized projects in and around the home.
The Flexio range is more capable of spraying small to larger projects as the turbines have more power built in to spray thicker coating like water-based and oil based acrylic and primer paints
Are acrylic paints compatible with the Wood & Metal sprayers?
Yes, the W100, W125, W350 & Fence and Deck sprayers will spray most acrylic paints, though some dilution could be required.
‘Paint & Primer’ style coatings are not recommended for use with the Wood & Metal Sprayers, due to their higher viscosity.
My Wood & Metal or Flexio gun is spitting and not spraying evenly.
This may be due to dried paint blocking the nozzle. Begin by pulling the trigger slightly, so the airflow begins. With just the air coming out, use a small hard object (such as a paint stirrer tool), to scratch at the nozzle opening on the front of the sprayer. The air will help to blow the dried paint out of the way as you loosen it.
Test spray on some cardboard to see if it has worked.
What is the iSpray attachment for?
The iSpray attachment, which will spray unthinned coatings including acrylic paint and stains, is ideal for big surface projects such as spraying walls, sheds, fences etc. It will provide a roller-like or slightly stippled finish. The iSpray attachment is a part of the Click & Paint Attachments range.
What is the Standard Attachment for?
The Standard spray attachment is your all-round attachment for a variety of paints and stains. It can be used both indoors and outdoors, where more control and a smoother finish is desired over the iSpray attachment. The attachment is a part of the Click & Paint Attachments range.
What is the Brilliant Spray Attachment for?
The Brilliant spray attachment is best used on your fine finish projects such as spraying cabinets, furniture, doors, trim etc. It will provide a smoother, finer finish than the iSpray and standard attachments. Depending on your material, the Brilliant Spray Attachment may require some thinning of your material in order to spray properly. The attachment is a part of the Click & Paint Attachments range.
My sprayer is blowing air, but not drawing paint from the container?
The breather hole on the top of the suction tube is mostly likely blocked. Try removing the suction tube, cleaning thoroughly and once re-installed, give it another shot.
If that has not worked, it could be that the small blue diaphragm in the clear ventilation hose (on the top of the spray attachment) may have been installed upside down. Pop one end of this hose off, and re-install the diaphragm the other way.
Everything is set up correctly and my unit is working, why is my paint refusing to go through the unit?
Have you tried testing the unit with water? If water goes through the unit smoothly, it may be that the paint isn’t suitable for the unit you’re using.
Can I spray both water based, and oil based paints?
Yes you can, but to ensure a great finish, follow these recommendations:
If using water-based paints, any spray attachment can be used, as long as the paint is the correct viscosity for the sprayer.
For oil-based paints, please do not use the direct feed i-spray attachments, as the oils can weaken the PVC hoses, and cause them to break. Likewise, the slot nozzle will give a poor finish, as it puts out too much volume for such a lightweight material.
The standard spray attachments with these models are a great alternative and will give the user a smooth finish instead. For the absolute best finish, try the Brilliant Spray attachment, which has an even finer spray pattern for a high gloss finish!
Can I spray 2 pack paints with my sprayer?
DIY products are generally not suited to 2-pack paints, as they have plastic components that will wear prematurely. The flash points of solvent-based products can be a safety hazard when used incorrectly / with the wrong sprayer.
Please get in touch with our customer service team and they can give you an answer specific to your product.
Can I spray the ceiling with the Flexio series?
Yes, you can. For the handheld sprayers (Flexio 590), we recommend keeping the maximum tilt of the sprayer to a 45-degree angle to avoid any chance of paint getting back into the turbine.
The stationary Flexio 690 and 950 are the preferred options for ceilings, as the gun is separate from the turbine and can be tilted back farther.
When spraying ceilings, ensure that the paint suction tube (located inside the pot of the spray attachment) is facing the rear of the unit, so that it is collecting paint from the lowest point within the container once tilted.
How to remove the power cord from the Furno heat gun?

Yes, the Furno range has a few accessories available, including deflector nozzles, scrapers and more. Please take a look at the Furno Accessories page for a complete list.
However, there are not any internal replacement parts for the Furno Heat guns
What size nozzles can I get for my DIY unit?
The Standard spray attachment and the I-Spray attachment have a 2.5mm nozzle.
The Gravity fed attachment and the Brilliant attachment both have 1.8mm nozzles.
What is the weight and thickness of your masking paper?
Weight is 45 GSM (grams per square metre), and thickness is 74 MU (measurement unit – used to measure area).
DIY - Airless Sprayer
What is the difference between an airless sprayer and an HVLP sprayer?
Airless Sprayers atomise coatings by forcing the product through a small tip opening at very high fluid pressure. The fluid pressures range from 1200-3600 PSI. Airless sprayers are capable of spraying larger surfaces at higher speeds. Airless sprayers have more overspray than HVLP which is the amount of product that does not adhere to the surface you are spraying.
HVLP sprayers are classified as a finishing tool. The pressure from the cup supplies paint to the gun, where a high volume of low pressure air intersects with the paint stream breaking the paint into small particles called atomization. Since the spray pressures are much lower, the atomised paint has less bounce back. This means less overspray and better control.
My ControlPro 150 was working earlier and now it will not turn on, why?
If this unit was turned off under pressure (while in the spray setting), an airlock can occur. To release the air lock, switch unit to off, turn switch to PRIME, press gun trigger. Switch back to spray and turn unit on. If Unit still doesn’t spray, switch off, and disconnect spray gun from handle to release pressure.
What does HEA mean?
HEA stands for High Efficiency Airless which means that the pump will have 55% less overspray than standard airless sprayers.
What spray tips are compatible with the Control Pro sprayers?
Only Wagner Control Pro HEA spray tips are compatible with the Control Pro sprayers. Please see the product page of your model for a full list of compatible tips & accessories
Which HEA tips will work with my sprayer?
There are two kinds of HEA tips, those that fit the Control Pro range of sprayers (identifiable by the octagonal tip shape), as opposed to the HEA Pro Tips (identifiable by the more ’rounded’ tip shape, and are for use on other airless sprayers, such as Prospray, SuperFinish and more).
The two types are not interchangeable – please ensure you are using the appropriate tip for your model. If unsure, please view the ‘Accessories & Parts’ page for your specific sprayer.
How do I know what size spray tip to use?
Different tip sizes will output more or less paint, in a a variety of spray fan widths. It is important to match an apropriate tip size to the type of coating being sprayed.
For more information on tip sizes, please see the tip sizing chart on the specific product page.
How long of a spray hose can I use on the Control Pro sprayers?
The maximum hose length for each sprayer is double the length that it came with.
What is light household oil?
It’s multipurpose oil that can be used to lubricate the sprayer. Examples are: 3-in-one oil, 10W30 motor oil, vegetable oil, sewing machine oil, or air tool oil.
What types of coatings can be sprayed through the Control Pro sprayers?
The Control Pro sprayers will spray water or oil-based paints and stains. Do not spray or clean with liquids having a flash point of less than 38ºC (100ºF). Flash point is the temperature at which a fluid can produce enough vapor to ignite.
Can I use a generator with the Control Pro sprayers?
Yes, you can use a 2,000 Watt generator but you must disable the idle-down feature.
Can I use the HEA sprayer to paint my car?
This isn’t an automotive quality finish sprayer, so it will not produce a showroom finish such as what you would generally want on a car.

Can I use a generator with the ProSpray & SuperFinish unit?
Yes, you can use a 5,000 Watt but you must disable the idle-down feature.
Wagner recommends that you avoid the use of generators if possible due to dirty power supply. If electrical power is not readily available then our preference is to use a petrol powered unit, such as the Titan Elite 3500 or Titan PowrTwin Range.
It is crucial to operate the generator at maximum speed to ensure an immediate surge of power as it cycles on and off. Ensure the automatic idle control feature is disabled as it can strain the controllers and motors for full power to arrive, which can cause them to burn out. New generators come with a switch to turn off this feature, while older models may not have the option to do so. In such cases, you can plug in a small radio or light to run the generator at full speed.
PS 3.20, PS 3.21, PS 3.23, PS 3.25, PS 3.29, PS 3.31, PS 3.34, PS 3.39, SF21 Pro, SF23 Pro, SF33 Pro, F230.
For safe and dependable performance, simply adhere to these guidelines while operating a generator:
Ensure the generator is of a minimum capacity of 5Kva or 5000 Watts.
Disable the automatic idle control feature when operating the generator.
Opt for a flat sine wave generator that suits electronic equipment such as computers and TVs.
Always use a surge protector to protect your devices from voltage spikes.
Use a heavy-duty contractor power lead for added safety and durability.
Worst Case Scenario
Entry-level generators do not have the above features & can cause expensive failures in electrical equipment. In a worst-case scenario where there is no other option but to use a generator without these features, please follow the guide below:
Never use a generator smaller than 5Kva or 5000 watts.
Always run a Halogen light (around 500watts) or something similar, so the light is on at the same time the pump is running,
(keeps generator loaded & acts as surge protection).
Always use a surge protector.
Always use a heavy-duty contractor power lead that’s spread out & not left in a coil.
Please note that these guidelines are suggestions only and are not a guarantee of warranty.

How does an electrostatic system work and what are the benefitis?
An electrostatic field is generated between the electrode in the gun head and the grounded work object. The paint particles are charged and attracted by the grounded object. This effect increases the efficiency significantly compared to non-electrostative systems. The “wrap-around” effect allows the operator to paint items such as pipes or hand rails without changing position.
- Lower paint consumption
- Enormous time savings
- High surface quality
- Reduction in waste disposal costs
- Higher performance
- Innovative technology for any application
