How to Create & Paint Shaker Cabinet Doors

Quickly and easily, using the Flexio 590 to provide a smooth, fine finish without brush marks.

Change the look and feel of your kitchen by adding 1x4s to cabinet doors and drawer fronts in a shaker style. This is what the kitchen looked like before.

Take down your cabinet doors, remove all hardware, and sand them down on to the bare wood front and back.

Step 1

Use the pattern in the photo and cut the 1x4s to the needed lengths. Rip the 1×4 thickness in half with a table saw. Attach the 1x4s with wood glue and clamps. Allow time to fully dry.

Paint the cabinet doors front and back, first with a coat of primer, then two coats of paint with your Flexio 590 sprayer. Allow time to fully dry.

Step 3

Follow the same steps to paint the cabinet frames. Paint the cabinets inside and out, first with a coat of primer, then two coats of paint with your FLEXiO 3000 sprayer. Allow time to fully dry.

Add hardware.
