Can I use a generator with the ProSpray & SuperFinish unit?
Yes, you can use a 5,000 Watt but you must disable the idle-down feature.
Wagner recommends that you avoid the use of generators if possible due to dirty power supply. If electrical power is not readily available then our preference is to use a petrol powered unit, such as the Titan Elite 3500 or Titan PowrTwin Range.
It is crucial to operate the generator at maximum speed to ensure an immediate surge of power as it cycles on and off. Ensure the automatic idle control feature is disabled as it can strain the controllers and motors for full power to arrive, which can cause them to burn out. New generators come with a switch to turn off this feature, while older models may not have the option to do so. In such cases, you can plug in a small radio or light to run the generator at full speed.

For safe and dependable performance, simply adhere to these guidelines while operating a generator:
Ensure the generator is of a minimum capacity of 5Kva or 5000 Watts.
Disable the automatic idle control feature when operating the generator.
Opt for a flat sine wave generator that suits electronic equipment such as computers and TVs.
Always use a surge protector to protect your devices from voltage spikes.
Use a heavy-duty contractor power lead for added safety and durability.
Worst Case Scenario
Entry-level generators do not have the above features & can cause expensive failures in electrical equipment. In a worst-case scenario where there is no other option but to use a generator without these features, please follow the guide below:
Never use a generator smaller than 5Kva or 5000 watts.
Always run a Halogen light (around 500watts) or something similar, so the light is on at the same time the pump is running,
(keeps generator loaded & acts as surge protection).
Always use a surge protector.
Always use a heavy-duty contractor power lead that’s spread out & not left in a coil.
